Recent activities - 8th June 2011

On 19th of May 2011 the group had a meeting at Swindon Borough Council offices to discuss the agenda for next year’s events and the renewal of the Borough’s Fairtrade Status which is due in August 2011. Later in the month our chairperson, Barbara Aftelak and other committee members met Mr. Shabaz Hussain from Midcounties Co-operative Society to discuss the possibility of involving the Co-op in Swindon in Fairtrade fortnight 2012.
Fairtrade Fortnight is an annual event, during which the Coalition seeks to increase its promotion of Fairtrade to the residents of the Borough of Swindon to encourage them to increase their motivation to buy and promote Fairtrade products. We will keep you updated about the details in due course.

Welcome to Swindon Fairtrade

Swindon Fairtrade Coalition is a voluntary group. The aim of the group is to work together to raise awareness of Fairtrade issues and to promote consumer demand for fairly traded products within the Borough. Throughout the year, the Coalition gives talks to groups, provides information stalls at events and itself organises events to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight.

We at Swindon Fairtrade Coalition wanted an interactive platform for all those interested in Fairtrade in some way. Here is our first step towards achieving this goal. Through our website and blog posts, we will keep you updated on the latest happenings. You can share your views about any press releases, events, improving the visibility of Fairtrade through this blog.
